Meet our Sr. Mobile App Architect, DIKSON SAMUEL Say hello to Skcript's Mobile App God!
-
Why App development? We use our phones the most and it's by far our most precious gadget. I think in the future all we will need is our phones, and I really wanted to use that platform.
-
What is your favourite app? Is it the one you use the most (apart from the usual communication ones)? Facebook. It's kind of an addiction. I just end up fangirling about CR7 ๐ Snapchat is great too!
-
What was your path to Skcript? I've worked with Varun (our Chief Technical Architect) before, and I was aware of all the great work he does. He told me about this company called Skcript, and I was interested right from the get-go. I was very keen to work at a startup because the challenge enticed me. And I've never looked back.
-
Here at Skcript, how do you think working with a small team helps the workflow? I think the biggest advantage is how efficient the communication is. There isn't any hesitation in trying to tell somebody something, and everything we do is highly channeled and effective.
-
What do you think are the hallmark features of a good app? When I'm designing an application, I make sure that the final product is the best possible. Fast, no lag, no bugs, simple, easily understandable and navigable.
-
What do you think is the best thing you've made after joining Skcript? I'd like to think that I'm still working on my best work.
-
What is the one software you cant live without? Sublime ๐ . It's a text editor which I think is the easiest to use, and of course, it's pretty essential to what I do!
-
How do you feel when a client gives you a long change-list? Well a lot of different things! If they are the right changes then it's perfectly fine, I'm happy to make them. If my views differ from theirs I try to explain why my approach would be more beneficial, but at the end of the day they are the customer and I'll build the project tailored to their needs.
-
What is your favorite product made by Apple and Google? iMessage, I think it's one of the most well designed messaging apps out there, and the integration with desktops is something that I admire. Google Assistant. Initially it was great competition for Siri, but I think it's overtaken it. It's evolved quite a bit, and I'm excited to use Google Assistant's capabilities in future apps that I design.
-
What's the best advice you've ever received? Always remove the alert statement! ๐
-
Who's your favourite person here at the office? WHY? Naveen. I connect with him the most and he's great to work with!
-
Does the beard itch? How do you know if food gets stuck inside? (Yes he has one!) Yup it does sometimes, but it's worth the manliness! And I can't tell if food is stuck unless somebody tells me! ๐

Hackathons provide opportunities to gain hands-on experience in new technology stacks or languages. Typically, Hackathon gives me an excellent understanding of things rather than just running behind new technologies without deep learning.
